The Social Development Committee (SDC) conducted its Fourth Quarter Regular Meeting at Jalaur Conference Hall, NEDA Regional Office VI, on December 7, 2022.

One of the primary agendas of the meeting was the presentation of the first draft of Chapters 4, 5.2, and 6 of Western Visayas Regional Development Plan for 2023-2028.

Chapter 6 on labor and employment focused on increasing people’s income earning abilities. Chapter 5.2 discussed strengthening social protevtion while Chapter 4 tackled health, education, migration and development and livable communities.

The presented targets, strategies, indicators, and proposed policy agenda were the outputs from the planning committee meetings/consultation workshops facilitated by the National Economic and Development Authority VI with partner line agencies in the past weeks.

Members of the SDC provided valuable inputs, comments, and suggestions that will be considered and included in the final draft of the chapters after the peer review on December 9, 2022. The enhanced document will be submitted for endorsement by the SDC to the Regional Development Council VI (RDC VI) in the first quarter of CY 2023.

The 2024 Annual Investment Program of the state universities and colleges (SUCs) and social sector regional line agencies were presented for endorsement by the SDC. An omnibus memorandum will be prepared by the Economic and Development COmmittee (EDC) and presented to the RDC VI during the Fourth Quarter Meeting on December 13. (KMedianero/NEDA VI-DRD)
