To further strengthen core processes and standardize all document requirements of the office’s major functional activities, the technical and administrative divisions of the National Economic and Development Authority Region 6 Office (NRO6) started their journey towards ISO 9001:2015 accreditation. An orientation/workshop on the steps, expected outputs, and outcomes, including a general orientation on the International Standard Organization was conducted on August 7 to 11, 2017 at the Jalaur Conference Room, NEDA-6 Building, Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City.
ISO is a worldwide federation of 163 national standards bodies founded in 1947 that promotes worldwide proprietary, industrial and commercial standards that involve the systematic definition and management of processes and their interactions for organizations to achieve their intended results in accordance with their quality policy and strategic direction.
Ms. Ana Marisse Dalawis of BCJA Training and Consultancy presented an overview of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) and discussed the steps to be undertaken by the staff that will lead to the sustainability of current processes. All these are expected to contribute to the overall performance of the office and establish a sound basis for other development initiatives. She supervised a series of workshops that aimed at contextualizing the ISO 9001:2015-QMS encompassing the office leadership, planning, support, operations and performance evaluation for the staff to efficiently deliver their intended outputs, address risks and opportunities, and to increase the office customers’ satisfaction.
Meanwhile, NRO6 RD Ro-Ann A. Bacal emphasized that the ISO 9001:2015 QMS is our office contribution to the RDP’s call to professionalize the Philippine bureaucracy. Stage 1 audit is slated on March 2018 and Stage 2 audit is scheduled on April 2018.
