The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) Western Visayas recognized the National Economic and Development Authority- (NEDA) Region VI for its contributions to Road Safety Campaign during the Regional Awarding of Partners and Stakeholders on December 13, 2022 at Eon Centennial Resort Hotel and Waterpark, Iloilo City.

NEDA Region VI was included in the roster of awardees under health promotion, comprising the National Government Agencies, Local Government Units and Private Sector Organizations who have rendered invaluable support to the programs and projects of DOH CHD Western Visayas. 

The NEDA Region VI was cited for its initiative in the institutionalization of Data for Road Incident Visualization Evaluation and Reporting System (DRIVERS) in the region.

The Policy Formulation and Planning Division which serves as the secretariat for the Interagency Technical Working Group on DRIVERS crafted the Regional Road Safety Situationer (RRSS) 2018-2021 and was presented during the Orientation on Public Transport Safety by the DOH CHD Western Visayas on September 28, 2022.

The RRSS contained a consolidated analysis of 47,402 road crash cases between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2021. These cases were also mapped out using geographic coordinates provided by the Philippine National Police to identify road crash case trends.

Important insights of the RRSS were embedded in the Regional Development Plan Assessment Report 2019-2022 and were also shared with the Center for Policy Studies and Advocacy on Sustainable Development, the partner of the Department of Transportation in the crafting of the Philippine Road Safety Action Plan (PRSAP) 2023-2028.

The DOH CHD Western Visayas also awarded partners and stakeholders in the management of infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, disaster risk reduction, family health and nutrition. It also recognized outstanding DOH CHD Western Visayas units, retirees, barangay health personnel and programs and projects. (RG Caspillo/ NEDA VI -PFPD)
