The National Economic and Development Authority Regional Office VI (NEDA VI), in coordination with the Iloilo City Health Office (CHO), conducted mosquito control through misting around NEDA VI premises in the wake of continuous rise of dengue cases and fatalities in Iloilo City and Western Visayas.

The misting operation was conducted last July 29, 2022 inside and around NEDA VI office buildings, including the dormitory, staff house and the storage area.

All NEDA VI employees secured their belongings before vacating the office premises. General Services Unit (GSU) staff remained to guide the CHO team in locating areas with possible mosquito breeding sites.

It is just one of the preventive measures of NEDA VI to avert employees and neighboring residents from being infected with dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria and filariasis.

Recently, the Department of Health (DOH) – Western Visayas reported 7,825 dengue cases and 46 dengue fatalities in the region for the January to July period.

NEDA VI recognizes this alarming health concern and continues to practice other preventive measures for dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases, such as the “4S” strategy of DOH: to Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, Self-protection measures, Seek early consultation, and Support spraying and fogging in hotspot areas.
