The Regional Development Council (RDC) Region VI, through its Secretariat the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region VI, spearheaded the conduct of the Private Sector Representatives (PSR) Convention on August 15, 2016 at the RDC Conference Hall, NEDA-VI Office, Iloilo City.
RDC-VI Acting Chairperson and NEDA-VI Regional Director Ro-Ann A. Bacal, CESO III welcomed the 26 private sector organizations which sent their nominees and provided an orientation on the mandate, functions and organizational structure of the NEDA and the RDC. She highlighted the importance of the private sector in the development of the region and in helping the government in decision-making by raising the concerns of the different sectors they represent.
RDC-VI Secretary and NEDA-VI Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Raul S. Anlocotan, presented the guidelines in the election of the RDC-VI private sector representatives or PSRs. The nominees were given the freedom to choose which among the four (4) RDC sector committees, namely, Infrastructure Development Committee, Economic Development Committee, Social Development Committee, or Development Administration Committee they desire to be members of. Each sector committee elected two PSRs to represent them at the RDC.
Among the 26 nominees, eight were elected to represent the following sectors in the RDC Full Council, namely:
DAC – Mr. Wilfredo Homicillada of PROCESS Foundation and Assistant Professor Teresita Balgos of the University of San Agustin representing the Labor Sector;
EDC – Ms. Donna Rose Ratilla of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)- Iloilo Chapter and Mr. Romeo Baldevia of the Antique Federation of Non-Government Organizations (AFON);
IDC – Mr. Danilo So Chan of the Capiz SMED Center and Ms. Ma. Luisa Segovia of the Iloilo Business Club (IBC);
SDC- Ms. Febie Ibojos of Signpost Philippines, Inc. and Retired Police Superintendent Ma. Cecilia Detablan of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Advocates’ Network (ATIPAN).
The eight elected PSRs will be confirmed as members of the Council during its Organizational Meeting on August 31, 2016. (NEDA-VI DRD)
