The NEDA-VI conducted a briefing for 75 B.A. Broadcasting students from the West Visayas State University College of Communication, Iloilo City on February 7, 2016 at the Jalaur Conference Room of NEDA-VI Office, Iloilo City. The briefing was facilitated by the Development Research Division (DRD).
Aside from the AmBisyon Natin 2040, the students were also briefed on the mandate and functions of NEDA, the profile of the Western Visayas region and the statistical terms used in socioeconomic reports. The NEDA-VI staff who briefed them were Ma. Teresa G. Guadalupe, Chief of the DRD and Ms. Yvette G. Batacandolo, Supervising EDS of DRD.
Headed by Professor Jason C. Cocjin, the delegation thanked NEDA for the warm reception and also said that the students learned a lot from the activity. College of Communication Chairperson Ms. Yolanda Gazo also gave a simple token of appreciation after the briefing. The event ended with a quick tour around NEDA and a photo opportunity held at the lobby.
The activity was conducted to provide a better understanding and appreciation of the AmBisyon Natin 2040, the current socioeconomic status of the region and the terms used in reporting that would be useful for future media practitioners. (CPGaitana/DRD)
