NEDA VI conducted a follow-up Orientation on the Government Procurement Reform Act (RA 9184) and its Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) on October 1, 2019 at RDC Hall, NEDA Region 6 Office, Iloilo City.  Led by       RD Ro-Ann A. Bacal and ARD Arecio A. Casing, Jr. the activity aimed at further enhancing the knowledge and know how on the procurement process to bring about a more efficient dispensation of staff requirements as indicated in the NEDA-VI’s Annual Procurement Plan.

The government procurement process underscores the need for transparency in all government transactions to avoid graft and corruption practices.   RA 9184 known as the Government Procurement Reform Act is an act providing for the modernization, standardization and regulation of the procurement activities of the government for other purposes and its guidelines have been updated from time to time.

Mr. Alfonso B. Bedonia, Jr., former Regional Director of the Department of Budget and Management in Region 6 served as resource person and covered the bidding process for goods and infrastructure, procuring contractual services, and alternative modes of procurement.

NEDA-VI has been instituting improvements in its procurement process including  adopting the policy of procuring by bulk every quarter; improving the description of requested items in its PPMPs and the APPs; practicing better planning by division and units to ensure that items are prioritized according to regular and special activities lined up in the office workprogram.  (SLLanceta/NRO6).
