The Bangsamoro Government, through the Special Development Fund-Project Management Office (SDF-PMO), visited the NEDA Regional Office VI on December 7, 2022.

The NEDA Regional Office VI hosted the selected staff of SDF-PMO and members of the SDF Technical Working Group for a knowledge-sharing session on development plan formulation and disaster rehabilitation and recovery.  Among the guests are the directors of the ministries of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority headed by Director Melanie Indal of the Planning and Policies Bureau and Director Kadil Sulaik of the Research Development and Special Projects Bureau.

Engr. Arecio Casing, Jr., OIC-Regional Director, presented the highlights of the Western Visayas economy to provide context on the economic situationer and development directions of the region.  He also shared the major proposed and ongoing big-ticket projects in Western Visayas.  EnP Juvelyn Pamonag, Supervising Economic Development Specialist, discussed the disaster rehabilitation and recovery plan formulation process.   The region’s experiences on the formulation of the rehabilitation and recovery plans on typhoons Yolanda and Odette, as well as the NEDA-VI’s role in the formulation of the Boracay Action Plan were shared.

The study visit was in line with the SDF-PMO’s plan to formulate a roadmap for rebuilding, rehabilitation and development of disaster and conflict-affected communities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) (JBPamonag/PFPD)
