The National Economic and Development Authority-Region VI (NEDA-VI), in collaboration with the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), conducted a training-workshop on Retooling of Stakeholders on Research Protocols with Statistical Software Applications on October 9 to 11, 2017 at Metro Inn, Narra Avenue, Bacolod City.
Organized by the Development Research Division of NEDA-VI, the three-day training-workshop gathered twenty-one participants composed of representatives from local government units and public and private higher education institutions in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
NEDA-VI has organized similar trainings for the Islands of Panay and Guimaras in 2016. With the reversion of Negros Occidental to Western Visayas thru Executive Order No. 38, series of 2017, NEDA-VI has expanded the scope of its statistics trainings and now covers Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.
Four faculty members of UPV College of Arts and Sciences-Division of Physical Sciences and Mathematics served as resource persons in the training-workshop which commenced with the lecture of Ms. Raquel A. Daynolo on Data Management and Description of Data.
Meanwhile, it was followed by the lectures of Prof. Vicente T. Balinas on Inferences about Two Populations (Interval and Ratio, Nominal, and Ordinal Data) and Prof. Leah A. Araneta on Inferences about Three or More Populations (Analysis of Variance and Ordinal Data).
The training-workshop was capped by the lecture of Prof. Michelle B. Besana on Linear Regression Analysis.
The training-workshop is also one of the activities of NEDA-VI and UPV College of Arts and Sciences-Division of Physical Sciences and Mathematics in line with 28th National Statistics Month Celebration in Western Visayas which was officially launched on October 4, 2017 (DRD/NEDA).
