In pursuit of the realization of programs and projects under the long-term Visayas Spatial Development Framework 2015-2045 (VSDF) which shall guide the RDCom Visayas Area Committee (VAC) in agenda setting for meetings technical staff from NEDA Regions 6, 7 and 8 together with NEDA-RDS reviewed the VSDF last April 18-20, 2018 in Eurotel, Malay, Kalibo, Aklan.
The VSDF 2015-2045 was formulated in 2015 in order to provide an interregional spatial framework that will harmonize the priorities and consolidate the competitive advantages of Eastern, Central and Western Visayas regions. It outlines the strategies to be pursued in order to realize the maximum development of the Visayas regions along the core spatial development concerns of concentration, connectivity, and vulnerability reduction. On the other hand, the RDCom-VAC aims to ensure harmonious and inclusive growth in the Visayas area as such, it needs to identify and effectively address common concerns of the three Visayas regions.
The workshop, aside from the bonding of the NEDA technical staff from the RDS and the 3 NROs, has generated three major outputs: 1) assessment of the status of core and complementary programs and projects under the three VSDF strategies of concentration, connectivity and vulnerability reduction; 2) assessment of the policies initially identified for the implementation of the VSDF; and 3) agenda items for subsequent RDCom VAC meetings starting 2nd Quarter 2018 until 2019.
Leading the technical staff from the three (3) regions were OIC-ARD Gilberto A. Altura of NEDA Regional Office 6, ARD Dionisio C. Ledres, Jr. of NRO 7 and ARD Meylene C. Rosales of NRO 8. (DRD/NRO6).
