The Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) 2022 is now open to all Filipino citizens and volunteer organizations, including local chapters of foreign volunteer organizations and local government units (LGUs), that currently provide volunteer services in the region or to any parts of the country. It is conducted by the Philippine National Volunteer Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), in partnership with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), as an annual activity during the National Volunteer Month Celebration in December.

It aims to identify and recognize outstanding Filipino volunteers and organizations for their exemplary performance and achievements in empowering communities and promoting volunteerism as a way of life, contributory to nation-building.

There are two award categories for this year’s SOV, namely, Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award (VLAA) and the National Outstanding Volunteer Award (NOVA).

The VLAA is conferred to an individual or organization for their consistent outstanding volunteer service and whose achievements are regarded as an inspiration and role model in the field of volunteerism.

The National Outstanding Volunteer Award (NOVA) on the other hand, is given to individuals or organizations with exceptional contribution to the development agenda of the national government that resulted to positive outputs within the duration set by the Search.

Nominations for NOVA is sub-divided into youth and adult for individuals, and non-profit and corporate for organizations. A special award for LGUs is given to recognize their outstanding volunteer programs that encourage participation of the civil society in local governance.
